For convenient recycling of paper, aluminum, glass and other food/beverage container materials, St. Louis County provides several dozen drop-off collection locations throughout our Solid Waste Management Area.

Composting is a great way to reduce your garbage volume while creating a valuable soil amendment. If you live in an urban area you may want to invest in a compost bin to handle you kitchen and yard wastes. Households with larger yards can mound yard wastes, or make a larger containment.
St. Louis County has 11 collection sites for waste electronics from household use. Under State of Minnesota regulations electronic wastes from business use must be recycled. We do not accept electronic waste from businesses. View a list of recyclers registered in Minnesota.
In Minnesota, by law, you must recycle televisions and computer monitors. They can't go into the trash. Residents can take advantage of recycling options for TVs, computer monitors and towers, and laptops at select St. Louis County Solid Waste sites. Fees for all video display device brands are $3.00 for items with screens up to 19" and $6.00 for larger.
Other electronic wastes are charges at the current garbage rate.

For Cities and Towns There are resources available for cities and towns within the county to help promote the 3Rs in their communities. For Business Reducing waste in the workplace helps cut costs and demonstrating stewardship, using resources more efficiently, and boosting productivity.
