St. Louis County employee named to Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs

Jennifer Reyes of Hibbing has been appointed by Governor Tim Walz to serve on the Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs. Reyes has worked for St. Louis County for 15 years, serving in a variety of administrative roles including the Public Health Division and the Sheriff's Office. She currently service as the Administrative Specialist for Commissioner Mike Jugovich, and is part of the county's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team and BIPOC Employee Resource Group.

Meeting set to update public on Piedmont Avenue/24th Avenue West intersection in Duluth

The public has shared concerns and vision, and St. Louis County Public Works engineers have reviewed all suggestions and now are ready to present options for new traffic controls at the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and 24th Avenue West in Duluth. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 30, at 6 p.m., at Denfeld High School in the West Commons area. People also have the option to tune in virtually at https://bit.ly/PiedmontAveMeeting. The public is encouraged to provide input on these options to steer the study towards the preferred option.

Douglas Lee Anderson Sentenced

On January 8th, the Honorable Robert C. Friday sentenced Douglas Lee Anderson, 70, to 41 months at the Department of Corrections for his role in the November 11, 2021, death of Stanley Erkkila, St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki said. Mr. Anderson pleaded guilty to Criminal Vehicular Homicide on November 13, 2023.
