Guilty Verdict in March 2018 American Bank Robbery in Orr, MN

On March 14, 2018, at approx. 11:40 AM, the St. Louis Co. Sheriff's Office received a report of a robbery at the American Bank in Orr.  The lone suspect entered the bank and was reported to have used pepper spray on two bank employees during the robbery. Afterwards, the suspect reportedly fled the bank on an ATV with an undetermined amount of cash.  The bank employees were brought to the Cook Hospital and treated for pepper spray exposure.  A member from the public called 911 and reported seeing an ATV enter a location just North of Orr following the robbery.  Squads responded to the address and took Lindeman into custody without incident.  Lindeman was believed to be the only suspect involved and was booked into jail on Aggravated Robbery. On September 19, 2019, Lindeman was found guilty of (2) counts of 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery stemming from this incident following a jury trial in St. Louis County District Court in Hibbing .  Lindeman remains in custody at the St. Louis Co. Jail without bail with his sentencing date set for October 17, 2019 in Hibbing.  The incident was investigated by the St. Louis Co. Sheriff's Office with assistance from the FBI. The case was prosecuted by the St. Louis Co. Attorney's Office in Hibbing.

Pehrson Lodge Resort Cabin Fire

Pehrson Lodge Resort Cabin Fire

On 09-19-2019, at approximately 7:43 AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office along with the Cook Fire and Ambulance Service, Greenwood Township Fire Department, and Lake Vermilion Fire Brigade were dispatched to a cabin fire at Pehrson Lodge Resort in the  2700 block of Vermilion Dr. in rural Cook, MN in Beatty Township.   Fire Personnel were able to contain the fire to the interior of a  two story log cabin.  The cabin sustained heavy smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and MN State Fire Marshal Office.  There were no reported injuries or fatalities associated with the fire.

Woman Injured in St Louis Bay While Attempting to Dock Sailboat

On 9/18/2019 at approximately 3:34 pm, The St Louis County Sheriffs Office, St Louis County Rescue Squad, Duluth Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard, responded to a female in distress near the Superior Entry in the Superior Bay. It was reported a 55 year old woman was stranded on a cement block while attempting to dock her sailboat that had drifted into Lake Superior. The woman was located by Duluth Fire Department, and transported to St Luke's to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Eagles Nest Township Fatality

On the above date and time St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a medical due to a fall at the above residence. A male had been on the roof removing a downed tree for the property owner and lost his footing falling approximately 20 feet from the roof and onto a propane tank on the ground. The male was unconscious and first responders on scene attempted life saving efforts. The male died at the scene due to his injuries. The cause and nature of the incident appears to be accidental. No foul play is suspected.

Traffic Crash Fatality

Emergency personnel responded to the area of 6500 Highway 47 for a 911 call of a vehicle that had hit a tree. Once on scene, first responders determined that the driver, RACHEL ANN WERMTER was deceased. WERMTER'S vehicle had skidded off the road into the opposite lane and came to rest next to a tree. No other passengers or vehicles were involved. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors.
