On August 22, 2020 at approximately 11:55 P. M Deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to  8744 Pequaywan Lake Road in Pequaywan  Township for a report of an ATV accident with injuries. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a 40 year old male, unconscious, lying on the pavement with severe injuries. Through the deputies investigation, deputies' learned that the male had left the area at a high rate of speed on his ATV and lost control, causing the ATV to roll, and the male being ejected. The driver of the ATV was transported to a local Duluth Hospital where he is currently being treated for life threatening injuries.

On April 5, 2019, Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol were conducting a welfare check on Jordan M. Grider, who had been staying at a campsite off the Sioux Hustler Trail since October 22, 2018.  Agents located the campsite and found large amounts of blood inside the campsite.  Investigators from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office arrived and gathered evidence but were unable to locate any signs of Jordan Grider due to deep snow. 

On July 27th, 2020 at approximately 4:57 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies assisted by the Orr Ambulance and the Crane Lake Fire Dept, responded to an ATV crash that occurred in the 7900 block of Vermilion Falls Rd. 64 year old Gregory Dennis lost control of his ATV while rounding a corner. Passersby found Dennis lying in the road and severely injured. It appeared that his ATV had rolled and he had been ejected. He was transported by Orr Ambulance to a landing zone and flown by North Memorial Air Medical to a Duluth area hospital in serious condition.

On 07/25/20 at 19:37 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff's Department responded to a structure fire involving a guest cabin at the above listed property. Volunteer Fire Departments including Lakewood, Gnesen, Fredenberg, and Normanna had arrived and worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire in hot and humid conditions. The cabin was a total loss. State Fire Marshall was contacted and responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

On 7/24/2020, at approx. 5:00 PM St. Louis County Deputies were dispatched to a boating accident involving two boats on Kabetogama Lake within the Voyageur's Nat'l Park.  The accident occurred in the area North of Sugarbush Island.
