After a long, cold, snowy winter, many people are anxious to start gardening. That includes the folks at St. Louis County Extension who have put together a half-day workshop: Gardening for a Healthier Life and Environment. The program will be April 13, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church (Coppertop) 230 W. Skyline Parkway in Duluth.

North Star Township Structure Fire

At approximately 0500 this morning, St. Louis County Deputies were dispatched to a structure fire at 3315 North Alden Lake Road in North Star Township.  Upon arrival, the structure, a 42x24 foot cabin, was fully engulfed.  The cabin was a total loss and is estimated at approximately $240,000.

Old Muni Bar Burglary in Cook, MN

Old Muni Bar Burglary in Cook, MN

On Feb. 4th, 2019 at approximately 10:50 AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a burglary that occurred overnight at the Old Muni Bar in the City of Cook. 

A Deputy Sheriff responded to the business and through investigation determined a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were taken during the burglary. 

The Sheriff's Office proceeded with an investigation into the incident, which has resulted in felony charges of 3rd Degree Burglary being filed against Prescott, Morris and Martin-Hall in St. Louis County District Court.  Court dates for Morris and Martin-Hall have been set for April 12th, 2019 at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia, MN.  On 3/20/2019 an arrest warrant was issued for Prescott regarding this investigation.
