On November 2nd, 2026 at 2:37pm, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the 10000 Block of Heino Road, in rural Sturgeon Twp, due to a reported house fire. 

The Honorable Michelle Anderson sentenced Micheal David Nelson Kunnari, 45, of Duluth, to 28.5 months in prison for attempted First-Degree Arson following an incident at Brimson Sportsmen’s Corner in St. Louis County, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki.

St. Louis County is hosting a public meeting to kick off the planning process to eliminate two railroad crossings on Midway Road in Hermantown and Midway Township.

St. Louis County deputies were dispatched to the report of a shooting at what was later determined to be an underage Halloween party located in Britt. An intoxicated, 22-year-old Hoyt Lakes man accidentally shot himself in the left leg with a handgun. The victim was transported to the Virginia Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle and treated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

Deputies were alling to Fairview Range Hospital, where a 20 year-old Hibbing man had been brought with a single gunshot wound to the head. The man had been with friends at a bonfire at the Scott Lake boat landing located south of Buhl.

Deputies learned that friends of the victim heard a pop near his vehicle and located the victim laying near it. No foul play is suspected.
