Yesterday, in St. Louis County District Court in Hibbing, Casey Jerald Daniels, 31, pleaded guilty to Criminal Vehicular Homicide – Alcohol Concentration .08 or More within 2 Hours of Driving, St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki said.

The reconstruction of roads in Eveleth, Aurora and Duluth; along with several road projects that will include a taconite tailings byproduct as part of the resurfacing material - these are among the 107 projects being managed by St. Louis County Public Works in 2026.

On May 26, 2026 at approximately 12:21 AM, the Orr fire department and several surrounding mutual aid fire departments responded to the report of a structure fire in the 5000 block of Old Hwy 53 located a few miles north of Orr, MN. 

On May 22, 2026 at approximately 10:44 PM, several area fire departments, EMS and St. Louis County deputies responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Westhaven Dr. located in Greenwood Township.

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and multiple people and organizations in the Northland are teaming up this year to encourage conversations about safe storage of firearms, promote use of gun locks and honor those whose lives were cut short by firearms.
