Boating Accident - Kabetogama Lake in Northern St. Louis County

On 7/24/2020, at approx. 5:00 PM St. Louis County Deputies were dispatched to a boating accident involving two boats on Kabetogama Lake within the Voyageur's Nat'l Park.  The accident occurred in the area North of Sugarbush Island.

Free COVID-19 testing event on Iron Range

The Minnesota Department of Health and St. Louis County Public Health are partnering to offer free COVID-19 tests for anyone on the Iron Range. The two-day, drive-thru testing event will be held at the St. Louis County Fairgrounds, 1010 Discovery Drive in Chisholm, on Tuesday, July 28, noon to 7 p.m.; and Wednesday, July 29, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Water Emergency in Morse Township

Water Emergency in Morse Township

On 7/19/2020 at around 2:30 PM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and Rescue Squad along with Morse Fire, responded to a water emergency on White Iron Lake in Morse Township.  A 14 foot boat with 5 people in it capsized.  All 5 people were wearing life jackets and were able to swim to a nearby island where they were rescued and brought to shore.  No one was injured.  Gusty winds contributed to the incident.

Culvert replacements to close portion of Jean Duluth Road

Jean Duluth Road will be closed between Glenwood Street and Martin Road beginning July 21 as St. Louis County Public Works replaces two culverts and repairs a third culvert. Additionally, the City of Duluth will be relocating a large diameter gas main as part of the project.

County plans chip sealing work in Hermantown this week, Duluth next week

St. Louis County Public Works will be applying chip sealing on a number of county roads in Hermantown and Duluth this week and next. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays while the work is being done, and are encouraged to slow down when traveling on these roads in the days following the work.
