Capsized Kayak on Duluth Harbor

Early this afternoon the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office along with other area first response agencies, responded to the call of a Kayak that had capsized on the Duluth Harbor. The single occupant of the Kayak was reported to be in distress. A nearby citizen with a motor boat was able to reach Mcleete who had been in the Kayak when it overturned. Mcleete was wearing her life jacket at the time of the incident and was uninjured.

May 26 Board Meeting moved to Virginia; new options added for public input

The St. Louis County Board Meeting on May 26, originally scheduled to be held at the Buhl Senior Center, has been moved to the Government Services Center in Virginia to better accommodate electronic options for public access and participation. As has been the case at all St. Louis County Board meetings since the issuance of the Governor's Executive Orders relating to COVID-19, people are encouraged to listen and participate via Webex or phone; or to submit comments to the Board ahead of time via email or voice mail. While the public will not be permitted to attend the meeting in person due to COVID-19 concerns, these options have been established to ensure the public has the ability to makes their voices heard.

Public Assist - Cloquet River

On the afternoon of May 17th, eight people launched a canoe and three kayaks on the Cloquet River. They put in the river near the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 53 and planned to float down to the bridge over the Cloquet River at County Highway 8.
