On August 19, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rice Lake Road and Martin Road in Rice Lake.

Four individuals involved in the three-vehicle crash were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

St. Louis County Public Works will be repairing a portion of County State Aid Highway 88 (Grant McMahan Blvd) on the northwest side of Shagawa Lake beginning Monday, August 24. No thru traffic will be allowed during the first week of the project, resulting in a detour around the lake.

On Monday August 17th, 2026, at approximately 12:30 P.M. 911 dispatchers were notified of a 70-yr old male who had fallen off a roof top and was not breathing, in rural Forbes, MN (unorganized township 56R-17). 

Today, before the Honorable Chief Judge Rachel Sullivan, Luis Antonio Villafana, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for Contact with a Child Under the Age of 14 and three counts of Dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material – Minor Under the Age of 14, announced St. Louis County Attorney Kim Maki.
