Public Works update for April 21: two new roads closed due to flooding, eight re-open

St. Louis County Public Works has been able to re-open eight more roads Friday; however two new roads were closed due to flooding. In total, 15 county roads are currently closed, while 33 others have been re-opened as water levels in area rivers and streams have receded and any needed repairs made.

St. Louis County Public Works re-opened six more roads Wednesday as water levels in area rivers and streams continue to recede. However, with more snow and rain in the forecast, motorists are urged to use caution in the event road conditions deteriorate again. Anyone encountering unsafe road conditions should call 911 to report the location.

Highway 29 re-opens north of Floodwood, plus nine other roads reopen following flooding

Water levels are receding and repairs are being made. This allowed St. Louis County Public Works to reopen 10 roads Tuesday, including Highway 29 north of Floodwood.

County updates list of roads closed due to flooding as of April 17 at 5 P.M.

St. Louis County Public Works teams have been busy working on two fronts: clearing snow - as much as 6-8 inches fell in parts of the county - while also monitoring road conditions and making repairs when possible. Two more roads were closed today due to flooding or deteriorating conditions from the spring thaw. Meanwhile, five roads have re-opened today.

Hwy 29 north of Floodwood closed due to flooding

Highway 29 north of Floodwood has been closed near the Stremmel Road  intersection (just east of the TH 73 intersection) due to flooding. This is a paved road and is the primary route between Floodwood and Meadowlands. It runs alongside the St. Louis River, which is overflowing its banks and covering the road at this location.
