St Louis County Public Health has been honored for its support of breastfeeding and its work to improve the health of mothers and their babies. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recognized the County's WIC clinic in Duluth with a Gold Premiere 2021 Breastfeeding Award of Excellence.

Area first responders and law enforcement responded to the report of 2 individuals needing to be rescued after their boat became stuck in the mud and heavy vegetation while boating on the Beaver River in Freedenberg Township last night.

An area Good Samaritan attempted to provide assistance to the stranded boaters prior to the arrival of rescue resources however his boat also became stuck and needed to be rescued.

The St Louis County Rescue Squad deployed their Marsh Master and was able to successfully rescue all 3 individuals and recover their boats. No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds boaters to use caution while operating watercraft on area lakes and rivers as low water levels may expose new hazards and always wear your life jacket while out on the water.

The body of Philip Poulose was located and recovered following a four-day search.

No one was injured in the fire. The residence is a total loss, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Eveleth man had been hiking through an old mining area when he got lost and called 911. Deputies and Rescue Squad volunteers were able to locate the man and bring him to safety.
