A 76-year-old Duluth man died after driving off West Tischer Road and striking a tree. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The St. Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplains' Association will hold it's annual luncheon to honor and remember fallen officers from the region, as well as pay tribute to those who continue to serve.

Two deputies, along with several Duluth firefighters and citizens worked together as a human chain to reach the woman and pull her from the water. The Sheriff's Office advises people to stay off the ice this late in the season due to unsafe conditions.

Deputies and other agencies responded to a water emergency on Lake Superior on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, the two people were able to make it out of the water on their own and are okay. 

The Sheriff's Office is reminding people of the danger of thin ice following a tragic accident near Floodwood that left an 82-year-old man dead, and a 61-year-old man with minor injuries.
