Court Service Divisions
The Civil and Warrants Divisions are a part of the Court Services Division of the Sheriff's Office. Deputies assigned to these divisions are responsible for carrying out the Sheriff's responsibility for executing all processes, writs, precepts and orders issued or made by lawful authority and to the sheriff delivered as stated in Minnesota State Statute 387.03. The Transportation Division is also a part of Court Services. They are tasked with the duty of transporting prisoners to and from various jails and correctional facilities as well as to and from various court appearances. The deputies travel from the County Jail to the Duluth Courthouse seven miles away. Three days a week they travel to the Hibbing and Virginia Courthouses which are located 75 miles and 60 miles respectively. On the days the deputies are not driving prisoners to court, they are driving throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa picking up people who have been arrested on various warrants.

Sheriff's Sales: Are used to satisfy a money judgment out of the personal or real property of the judgment debtor, to protect the value of perishable property under levy of Writ of Attachment by converting it to cash, or to enforce a lien against property under foreclosure proceedings and mortgage foreclosure sales.
Uniform Commercial Code Sales: The Sheriff conducts Uniform Commercial Code, Mechanic, and Warehouse lien sales but acts only as auctioneer pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 330.06.
