Available St. Louis County Web Services

St. Louis County provides access to its geospatial (GIS) data through the use Web Services (WS). These web services allow users to connect live through the internet to access county data instead of downloading static data. This approach ensures that users get the most current data while minimizing the County's and users time managing static data for a variety of transportation, economic and community development initiatives and projects while providing access to data in emergency situations to County partners.

Note: These services require the use of special Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. They can be added and viewed as WMS services in ESRI's ArcGIS, AutoDesk’s AutoCAD and MapINFO, as well as several other web, mobile, and desktop software products that utilize geospatial technologies.

Question 1: When and how often is the data updated?
  Answer: The web services bring together various databases across the County. The database updates will be reflected within a day or two.
Question 2: Do you plan to deploy other web services such as: feature services and geocoding services? 
  Answer: Not at this time. However, the County will review and consider requests.
Question 3: How do I connect to and use these web service?
  Answer: Due to the large marketplace of technology and software platforms that access these web services, users must be have technical knowledge of the web, mobile, or desktop software they are using.
