Tom Cartier Receives Volunteer Recognition Award
As part of St. Louis County’s Sesquicentennial year, the County presented a Volunteer Recognition Award to Tom Cartier today, Tuesday, December 14, 2006 at 9:30 AM at the Duluth Courthouse as part of its regular St. Louis County Board meeting. County Auditor Don Dicklich will present the St. Louis County Volunteer Recognition Award to Tom Cartier.
Tom Cartier was born and raised in Duluth, and has been actively participating in the community for years. He has volunteered his time as: President of the Lincoln Park Business Group, President of Skyline Rotary, President of the Zenith City Men’s Club, Chairman of the March of Dimes Northern Region, Member of the 1200 Fund for City of Duluth, Member of the City of Duluth Police Advisory Board, Trustee of the College of St. Scholastica, President of the Saints / Hilltoppers Arena Committee, Mentor at the YMCA, Trustee at the Marshall School, and Coach at the College of St. Scholastica hockey and youth hockey teams. Tom Cartier has received Distinguished Service Awards from both the Jaycees and Rotary, and is the owner of Cartier Insurance Agency.
The Volunteer Recognition Award was also given in honor of Tom Cartier’s dedicated work toward finding a potential cure for Diabetes. Tom is currently President of Spring Point Project, a 3-year old non-profit 501(C) 3 corporation dedicated to guaranteeing the widespread availability of islet tissue for diabetes care. Under Tom’s leadership, nearly $20 million was raised in less than six months to aid Spring Point’s work.
