FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
St. Louis County Auditor offers instructions for District 7B absentee voters
The Minnesota Supreme Court ruling to change candidate names on the ballots in Minnesota House District 7B has created questions for voters who requested absentee ballots to be sent to them. It’s important to note that this applies only to Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) voters in Minnesota House District 7B, Duluth, Minnesota.
Based on the Court’s ruling, ballots must be changed. The DFL candidate name will change from Kerry Gauthier to Erik Simonson. Unless you have already voted and your ballot was accepted prior to the Court ruling, you could have an opportunity to vote on the updated (new), correct ballot.
If you received your UOCAVA absentee ballot via e-mail, print out all the materials and return them with the unvoted ballot. You will receive updated (new), correct ballot materials via e-mail.
If you received your UOCAVA absentee ballot via postal service, simply return the original materials with an unvoted ballot. You will receive updated (new), correct ballot materials in the mail.
For UOCAVA voters in Minnesota House District 7B, if you have any questions about the status of your ballot, please call the St. Louis County Auditor’s Office at 218-726-2385.
