St. Louis County Board to honor Nancy Shusterich, 35-year employee

In 1977, Star Wars debuted in movie theaters, a tiny company called Apple was incorporated, and a smiling new face joined St. Louis County’s Planning and Zoning Department working under a federal government program.

Thirty-five years later, all three legends continue their success. Nancy Shusterich now works in the Auditor’s office in Virginia as an Information Specialist II, where she continues to offer “exemplary customer service,” in the words of St. Louis County Commissioner Keith Nelson. That is why he has nominated Shusterich, who retires next month, for a Customer Service Recognition Award.

The St. Louis County Board will honor Shusterich with the award on Tuesday, August 14, at 9:30 a.m., just prior to the start of the Board’s regular meeting, which will be held at Mesabi Station, 111 Station Road, Eveleth.

“Nancy has a wealth of knowledge that comes from years of experience,” said Nelson, “and she combines that with a personal interest in the people she serves. She’s efficient and has a positive attitude, but it’s the compassion that she has exhibited in assisting customers that really stands out in my mind.”

St. Louis County Commissioners have made it a priority in 2012 to recognize employees who demonstrate a particularly high level of customer service. St. Louis County employs approximately 1,700 people to serve its more than 200,000 residents spread across 7,000 square miles. To learn more, visit stlouiscountymn.gov.
