FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

County Commissioner Steve Raukar honors Terry Soderberg
With “Customer Service Recognition Award”

If St. Louis County was a baseball team, Terry Soderberg would be a franchise player, the go-to guy. That’s how Seventh District Commissioner Steve Raukar described Soderberg, deputy director of the County’s Environmental Services Department, when honoring him with the St. Louis County Board’s Customer Service Recognition Award. Raukar presented Soderberg with the award this morning prior to the County Board’s meeting, which was held in the Floodwood City Hall. The St. Louis County Board has made it a theme for 2012 to recognize those county employees who have demonstrated exemplary customer service.

Soderberg’s career with the county spans more than 30 years. He started by working at the Northwoods Landfill and has risen through the ranks to his current position as deputy director of the County’s Environmental Services Department. One of his current responsibilities is leading his department’s environmental enforcement program, a challenging position requiring a clear understanding of rules, as well as an ability to understand people.

In presenting the award, Commissioner Raukar praised Soderberg’s knowledge and experience as a resource for the County. “Terry is very focused on finding solutions,” said Raukar. “He’s one who will say no challenge is too big. You know he’s going to give his best each and every day.”

Added Ted Troolin, Environmental Services Director for the County, “Terry is a model for others to follow. He recognizes some situations are complex and need additional considerations. He is a great listener, and puts himself in the customer’s shoes and recognizes their needs.”
