Second County Board “Listening Session” Scheduled for May 15 in Hermantown
At the County Board’s organizational meeting in January, Board Chair Commissioner Keith Nelson of Fayal Township, offered a new initiative to establish four “Listening Sessions” for 2012. He requested these informational opportunities for commissioners to meet with residents in various areas of the county, throughout the year, and at times that may be more convenient for public participation than would a normal County Board meeting held during the day.

Noting that citizen turnout was impressive at last year’s two evening County Board Workshops, Commissioner Nelson explained, “Listening Sessions will have no specific agendas, but rather, will be an open public forum providing opportunity for comment and dialogue between commissioners and citizens on any variety of topics.” The first session was held in Grand Lake Township in February.

The second “Listening Session” in this series is scheduled for:

Tuesday, May 15,    6:30 p.m.
Hermantown Government Services Center, 5111 Maple Grove Road, Hermantown, MN

Below is the proposed schedule for the two remaining “Listening Sessions” to be held in 2012:

Tuesday, September 18,   6:30 p.m.
City Center West (Evergreen Center), 5830 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN

Tuesday, November 20,   3:30 p.m.
Mt. Iron Community Center, 8586 Enterprise Drive South, Mt. Iron, MN
