FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
2011 St. Louis County Health & Human Service Conference October 10 & 11
The 29th annual St Louis County Health & Human Service Conference will be held Monday and Tuesday, October 10th and 11th at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC). This year's conference theme is "How We Are Changed by the Work We Do."
Each year, the Conference draws together over 1,900 health and human service practitioners and 130 exhibitors from the public and private sectors for two days of training and networking, providing a forum for sharing innovative ideas and programs, stretch perspectives, strengthening community health and human services, and addressing common concerns. Conference offerings include 120 (1-1/2 hour) Workshops and twelve (3-1/2 hour) Institutes. Participants can attend Institutes and Workshops of their choice throughout the conference.
This year’s conference keynote speaker is Ben Wolfe, M.Ed., L.I.C.S.W., who founded, manages, and practices grief counseling in the 26-year-old Essentia Health St. Mary’s Grief Support Services System. He has presented more than 1,800 workshops, training programs, and keynote addresses at local, state, national, and international levels. In June 2011, Mr. Wolfe was named Death Educator of the Year by the International Association of Death Education and Counseling.
On-site registration begins at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, October 10th and continues throughout the conference. Registration fee is $50, $40 for students or seniors (age 62+). The fee covers attendance for one, or both days. Minnesota Board of Social Work continuing education units (C.E.U.s) will be available; some C.E.U.s may also fulfill Minnesota Board of Nursing requirements.
