St. Louis County Hosts First “Race for Wellness 5K Walk/Run”
Family Event in Cotton, Minnesota

On Friday evening August 19, 2011, St. Louis County will host its first annual St. Louis County Race for Wellness 5K Walk/Run event to support and encourage the greater health and wellness of all St. Louis County residents, employees, retirees, friends, and neighbors. Beginning at the Ellsburg Bass Lake Fire Hall in Cotton, MN, participants are encouraged to walk or run down one of Cotton’s most scenic roadways.

This family event is designed for individuals at all ability levels. Walkers and new runners welcome. A one mile “kids’ race” will begin at 6:00 p.m. for children age 11 years and younger, with the 5K Walk/Run scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m. Awards for specific age groups will be presented,  and door prizes will be drawn. Participants are encouraged to pre-register to guarantee receiving a commemorative T-shirt, marking the first annual county Race for Wellness 5K Walk/Run.

Entrance fee is $10 for St. Louis County employees and retirees, including spouses and dependants 12 years old and up. Fee for Non-St. Louis County employees age 12 and up is $20. Participation for all children age 11 and under is free.
