FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Midway Road Construction Will Begin Monday August 15th

Beginning Monday August 15, St. Louis County will be performing construction on Midway Road from State Trunk Highway 2 to State Trunk Highway 194. Midway Road currently serves approximately 9,000 vehicles per day and is a primary route between commercial and residential centers for citizens living in the greater Duluth area.

The project’s roadway improvements will include milling and overlaying of the existing bituminous surface, and the addition of an offset right turn lane for northbound traffic on Midway Road, turning east onto Maple Grove Road.

Work is expected to be completed by September 16, 2011.  During the project, the driving public should expect lane shifts and the roadway to be reduced to one lane with flagging operations at times. This construction work will significantly impact traffic causing delays. St. Louis County regrets the inconvenience to area residents and others who regularly use this route and asks that the motoring public seek an alternative route during the project.
