Growing Your Own Fruits and Vegetables on March 12th

The conference will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Hermantown High School, 4335 Hawk Circle Drive, Hermantown, MN from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The program will present research-based information on selecting outstanding varieties and successful growing practices for the beautiful northland.

The event, called “Home Grown”, will feature educators and Master Gardeners from the University of Minnesota Extension. Speakers will include, Dr. David Wildung, who developed many northern small fruit varieties including the Minnesota “half-high” blueberry. Robert Olen, Extension Educator from St. Louis County, has evaluated numerous fruit and vegetable varieties for northern Minnesota, and will present his findings, offering tips about growing early season vegetables, and season extension systems for home gardeners.

St. Louis County Master Gardeners will host display booths and answer gardening questions. The cost of the program is $25 which includes the program, reference book, and refreshments. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the program begins at 8:30. Space is limited and pre-registration is advised.
