St. Louis County Welcomes Public to Depot Plan Open House

St. Louis County recently released a plan outlining future development possibilities for the historic St. Louis County Union Depot and the surrounding area. The plan is the result of a year-long study of redevelopment opportunities presented by possible new passenger rail service between Duluth and Minneapolis. Community members are invited to learn more about the plan’s recommendations at an open house Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in the St. Louis County Union Depot Great Hall from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A formal presentation and question and answer session will begin at 6:00 p.m.

“This plan outlines an exciting future for the historic St. Louis County Union Depot and presents  economic development opportunities that could transform the area,” said St. Louis County Board Chair Steve Raukar.

The planning study consists of three components. A site plan provides design recommendations for creating a vibrant passenger terminal at the Depot. An area master plan provides a guide for capturing new development opportunities presented by the new passenger rail service. An economic analysis documents current and potential future market conditions. Plan documents and other information are available at the project website: www.stlouiscountydepot.org.  The consultant team of Miller Dunwiddie Architecture will facilitate the event. For more information, contact St. Louis County Planning and Development at 218-725-5000.
