“Unnatural Causes” Film Showings and Health Discussions Announced
… is inequality making us sick?
St. Louis County Commissioner Steve O’Neil, in cooperation with the St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services Department, will be hosting a viewing of two segments of the acclaimed documentary, Unnatural Causes. Unnatural Causes is a six part documentary series exploring America’s racial and socioeconomic inequalities in health. It uncovers startling new findings that suggest there is much more to staying healthy in America than behavior, health care, and family history. USA Today had this to say about the film series, “Riveting...Explores why your bank account, race, and zip code are more powerful predictors of healthiness than your medical coverage, habits, and genes.”
There will be two free opportunities open to the public for viewing the film, followed by a short discussion period lead by Commissioner O’Neil and county Public Health Educator Jim Skoog.
