COUNTY HIGHWAY 7 BRIDGE CLOSURE
The St. Louis County Public Works Department reported today that the bridge spanning the Cloquet River on County Highway 7 located in Industrial Township, approximately two (2) miles west of Minnesota Trunk Highway 33, is closed until further notice. County officials explained that a tractor trailer, owned and operated by St. Louis County, was hauling a piece of heavy equipment when it struck the overhead components of the bridge causing significant structural damage. Local structural engineers are currently assessing the damage to the bridge and will report their findings as soon as the analysis is completed.
Beginning today, January 15th, all traffic on County Highway 7 will be detoured at Minnesota Trunk Highway 33 and County Highway 47 (Swan Lake Road). St. Louis County regrets the inconvenience to area residents and others who regularly use the bridge, and will provide further updates and timelines regarding the bridge repairs as soon as additional information is known.
