As Veterans Day Nears, Area Restaurants Partner with
County Veterans Service Office to Inform Vets of their Benefits
Duluth Grill will be offering vets a free meal on Veterans Day

The St. Louis County Veterans Service Office is collaborating with the State of Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and local restaurants to inform veterans that there is local assistance available when they apply for their well earned benefits. At times it is very cumbersome and discouraging trying to filling out the required paperwork when veterans apply for their benefits through the US Department of Veterans Affairs.  The St. Louis County Veterans Service Office has four offices available to assist veterans in receiving their earned benefits. To get that word out, the County Veterans Service Office has created a coffee mug with all the necessary telephone contact information printed on the mug. The mugs are free to veterans at participating restaurants.

On a trial basis a minimum order of mugs was purchased and given to selected restaurants throughout St. Louis County.  The establishments in Ely offering the mugs are: the Front Porch, Dee’s Bar, VFW Post 2717, and Friendly Grounds.  Tower/Sudan area establishments are: the American Legion Post 245, Black Bear, and Kountry Krossroads.  In Cotton, the Wilbert Café is
participating, and in Duluth coffee mugs are available exclusively at the Duluth Grill in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

At the Duluth Grill (118 South 27th Ave. West) owner Tom Hanson is also inviting all veterans to come in for a complimentary meal as a way to say “thank you” for their service, on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th.  All of these establishments are partnering with the county in its outreach efforts to inform veterans of the local contact numbers listed on the coffee mugs to receive assistance and information regarding the benefits they have earned in service to our country.
