The St. Louis County Health and Human Service Conference draws together more than 1,800 health and human service practitioners from the public and private sectors for two days of training and networking each year. The conference provides a unique forum in which to share innovative ideas and programs, stretch personal and professional perspectives, strengthen community health and human services, and address common issues and concerns. This year the conference theme and keynote speaker, Llewellyn Smith, will specifically focus on “Building Health: Unnatural Causes, Natural Solutions.” A Peabody and duPont award winner, Mr. Smith began his television career in Minneapolis in 1978. Since that time, he has contributed to a number of award winning series for the Public Broadcasting System, recently co-producing the PBS series Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? (2008), a surprising look at the impact social and economic conditions have in determining our health and longevity. For more information on this topic visit www.unnaturalcauses.org
