“The breadth of services provided by the County is staggering,” said County Board Chair, Dennis Fink during a recent radio interview. “There is not enough money for government to be all things to all people. Priorities need to be established and this will require a structural change in the way government will work in the future.”
With the State Legislature set to debate the merits of three proposed budgets from the Governor, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, St. Louis County must begin to wrestle with the reality of a major reduction in state funding available to continue its programs and services. “Your opinions are priceless, and we are not asking you often enough for your input,” added Commissioner Fink. Suggestions provided to Commissioners will be used to help determine budgeting priorities for the upcoming 2010 through 2011 budget cycle.
