St. Louis County Veterans Office Receives Enhancement Grant
The St. Louis County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce that the County Veterans Service office has been awarded a $75,164 grant from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. The County Veterans Service Office Enhancement grant is the largest grant awarded across the state.
The grant awarded to St. Louis County will be used to hire an additional Veterans Service Officer which will allow the County to aid veterans to apply for those benefits that are available to them.
The grant funds will also be used to advertise the St. Louis County Veterans Service Offices and LinkVet. LinkVet is a toll-free customer service line for Minnesota veterans and family members. LinkVet has trained staff at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and Crisis Connection to provide information, referrals, immediate crisis intervention and psychological counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The telephone number is 1-888-LINKVET (1-888-546-5838) and can also be accessed at http://www.minnesotaveteran.org/LinkVet.htm
“This grant will be an important part of the ongoing upgrade of our Veterans Service Office,” said Mike Forsman, a Marine Corps veteran, and Chair of the St. Louis County Board. “St. Louis County is aware of the many contributions to American society made by veterans, and works to ensure that all eligible benefits are made available to them.”
