Annual St. Louis County Fall Auction Goes On-Line

Although generations of bargain hunters have long enjoyed the anticipation of finding that “just right” government surplus truck, tractor, or table at the St. Louis County annual auction, the County auction has now gone on-line. Twenty-first century technology has increased the exposure of surplus government items for potential buyers far outside the confines of our County’s borders. Governmental jurisdictions throughout the country have found on-line auctions to be far superior to local one-day auctions. And, St. Louis County’s experience on-line has also been extremely successful. Because of this, the annual event known as the County Fall Auction we will no longer be held.

Instead, the County Purchasing Department will now post all surplus items on-line at Or the surplus site may be accessed through St. Louis County’s web page, Buyers or browsers can simply go to “Departments”, select “Purchasing” and go to “surplus”. As surplus items become available they will be posted throughout the year, eliminating the need to transfer and store materials and vehicles until the one time fall event. In addition to viewing current auctions in other cities, counties, and school districts within Minnesota, buyers can now view auctions in several states at this same site.

Questions about this latest technological leap for St. Louis County should be addressed to the County’s Purchasing Department at 218-726-2666.
