Greening up the County
St. Louis County is committed to protecting the environment by supporting waste reduction, pollution prevention, environmentally preferable purchasing activities, conserving resources, increasing building efficiency, and reducing the County's carbon footprint.
The management and efficient use of energy for facilities, equipment, and fleet vehicles involves all County budgets through lower costs in building operations and vehicle expense.

Facilities: St. Louis County owns over 160 buildings located thoughout the county. The County is implementing renewable resources such as renewable energy and water conservation. Alternative building systems and methods, i.e. green roof, white roofs, super insulated, high performance windows, renewable energy systems, high efficiency lighting, HVAC, and cooling systems.
