Intergovernmental Relations

As a Division of County Administration, Intergovernmental Affairs is responsible for keeping abreast of legislative initiatives that will or may impact St. Louis County. The county's Intergovernmental Relations Director works directly with the County Board, County Administrator, state agencies, legislators, legislative staff and a variety of city, county and township associations to ensure that policy-makers are fully aware of the financial, organizational, social and environmental effects that current policy and policy changes may have on the county and the region.

Prior to each Minnesota State Legislative session, this position works with County Commissioners and staff to develop a legislative agenda identifying policy and funding issues that will impact the county. For more information contact John Ongaro, Intergovernmental Affairs Director at
