Culvert work to temporarily close Arkola Road in Cotton

Beginning Monday, April 18, and lasting up to 15 days, County State Aid Highway 52, also known as Arkola Road, will be closed between Hwy 53 and CSAH 7. The culvert work is in preparation for a resurfacing project that will take place this summer.

Flooding closes eight minor roads in County

An additional 20 roads have standing water on them but are considered passable. Signs are in place alerting motorists to use caution. All of the roads have fairly low traffic counts.

One block of 4th Street closed in Duluth

Public Works crews are repairing potholes along 4th Street in Duluth. One block, from 14th to 15th Avenues East, will be closed for repairs through Friday, March 11. 

Spring road restrictions announced

Spring road restrictions on County highways go into effect Tuesday, March 9, in the North Central Zone; and Wednesday March 10, for the North Zone. The restrictions typically last into May. 

Public input wanted as County works to develop ATV ordinance

Public Works engineers have scheduled three meetings across the County as they work to develop an ordinance that potentially would allow ATV use on some County Roads.

Information meeting on Hwy 5 relocation

A public meeting has been set for Monday, January 25, to provide the latest information on plans to reroute Highway 5 near Chisholm.

Ribbon cutting Wednesday for new Hwy 102

A ribbon cutting has been set for January 6 at 1 p.m. to celebrate the opening of County Road 102 in Mt. Iron. The County Board approved the opening of the road to support Minntac mining operations.

St. Louis County roads and bridges saw significant improvement in 2015 thanks to a record $50 million investment, funded in part by the Transportation Sales Tax and bonding approved by the County Board.

Dynamic Warning Systems to be installed at seven intersections

Seven high risk intersections in rural parts of the county will receive Mainline Dynamic Warning Systems next summer. The warning systems alert motorists when a vehicle on a cross street is about to enter the road.
